![]() How long I've been pushing them was always in the back of my mind. I like that your party members get tired while in Tartarus. Seeing the characters mime their scenes does so much to convey their personalities. The cutscenes, the in-game scripted and fully animated ones, are too important to the game to miss out on. All your classmates changing outfits in the summer/winter, a tiny 2D model and a small portrait doesn't sell it the way a larger, 3D model does. ![]() When the seasons change, you really need to see the changes in a 3D world. There are so many things that you miss out on in P3P. However, P3P deserves credit for bringing a fantastic game to a portable. I think P3 FES is the definitive edition of the game and it completely smokes P3P. I picked up P3 FES on my PS3 and never looked back. About 1/4 of the way through, I did some research on P3 FES and realized there were huge differences between it and what I was playing. I was instantly hooked there wasn't a thing I didn't like about the game. I discovered the Persona series last year and P3 was my first experience. My only complaint is that neither MC nor FeMC can wield other kind of weapons MC is locked with sword and FeMC with naginatas. ![]() But also because you finally have social links with the male party members of your party, all your friends get more development and some bad social links from MC disappear completely (Magician, I'm looking at you.) Gameplay wise, you can control your party members and you won't get tired in Tartarus anymore. Of course, she is my favorite MC of the three modern Persona games. Like many others have said, FeMC is the main reason. It can save you from being killed if a party member does a stupid move.ģ. And lastly, issue commands to the party members. Say, you want to level up the Magician Social Link, have a Magician Arcana Persona with you, else, you won't get as many points as if you had a Persona with you.Īlso, in Tartarus, your party members can get tired and their performance will decrease, including the MC. If you want to level them up faster, have a Persona of the same arcana when you continue that social link. Also you need to level up your social skills too if you wish to start some social links. It is imperative to do them if you want your Personas to be more powerful or unlock more powerful Personas. Overall, it's a hard choice honestly, which is why most really want a damn remake of the game with all of these elements included.Ģ. You also don't start with all of these choices, they get unlocked as your team becomes more familiar with each other(FOOL rank ups for story moments). The whole thing basically adds another level of micro-management, and FES is where the system is the smartest at it(later entries dumbed down this for reasons I still don't understand). "Full Assault" she'll flat out try to annhilate enemies, and will never cast support magic. If you tell her to "Knock Down" enemies, she'll use wind to do it if they're weak to it, physically attack it to try and crit it otherwise(and do absolutely nothing if the enemy is immune to pierce and isn't weak to wind). ![]() If you turn around and tell her to act freely, she'll knock down an enemy, then attack the same to try and kill it, and may heal you if you drop below 33% health(not guaranteed). If you tell Yukari to "Support" for example, she'll attack an enemy's weakness if it's discovered(so discovering weaknesses with your navigator is super important here), but her first priority would be to heal anyone below 50% health. Of course, you also have the idea of P3P you can fully control your party, but with FES you give suggestions on what they should do. ![]() They remove this by and large with P3P, but you now have to pay money at the clock to recover SP. To counter this, magic is a lot freer to use as it gets recovered the second you go back to the lobby. P3P has some of the strongest ones in the entire series though, and I think the game's story beats work just as well with a female protag.įrom a gameplay perspective, FES introduced the idea of "tired/sick" in terms of limiting dungeon progression, where party members actually take matters into their own hands by going home for the night if they're too tired after fighting while dungeoning(not during an exploration, but when it's over). In FES, not every party member is a social link, and a lot of the links in it can be weak as hell(though both games have this issue at times). P3P came out after the original Persona 4, so things they learned to do in it, they improved with P3. which is fucking sad, because P3P is better at everything else. Picture the most impactful moments of P4, but no models on the screen doing anything, just descriptions of what's happening. FES is the best way to experience the game the first time, as scenes are actually acted out like they are in P4. ![]()
