![]() ![]() For physical differences the comments the current reviews have is about the knobs being substantially better. I own a mk3 already, so I have looked into these questions myself.ġ - I think portability is the wrong way to look at it, it is more standalone than portable. It's not even worth my time to try to sell it but I might see what guitar center is willing to do for a trade at some point.ĭon't own a plus yet but have a preorder down for one. I'm not going to throw out my studio and mk2 mikro to go buy one. I'm saying I'd spend the extra in preparation for the inevitable. I'm not saying people shouldn't buy the mk3. The standalone function means I can still find a use for it. ![]() Motu still supports it, but good luck finding a laptop with firewire. I now use it as adat expansion and expect to get 10 more years out of it (I was using windows xp when I bought it it's ancient). but the motu works as a standalone mixer. I use my interface on both a laptop and desktop. I upgraded several years ago because I bought a new laptop that doesn't have firewire. Your car will not be worthless because Ford no longer provides drivers 20 years from now. None of those things depend on a product other than itself. We're all screwed and have to keep a computer around just for maschine. Windows update breaks the usb driver and poof. NI gets sold off to steinberg and maschine is discontinued. I'd pay the premium because, one day, it won't work with a computer. I have computers that work with the software. If I were to buy one now, I wouldn't really care about stand alone mode. The mk3 (and my studio and mk2 mikro) will hopefully function as generic midi controllers. The interface is better than my old mpc 1000. The plus will still have the stand alone mode and midi to integrate with other stuff. I held off on buying maschine for one issue: At some point, the software will no longer be supported. If I were buying new, I wouldn't think twice before getting the plus. Sometimes I'll mess around with sequencers in my hardware. Considering that designing my own sounds from scratch is more interesting to me than using presets, is the parameter tweaking on the Plus limited in such a way that I'm going to be using the software either way to achieve this? In other words, can I build out a set of my own sounds using the synths that are distributed with the product out of the box, and do I have access to all the parameters of those synths in the stand alone experience.Īpologies if this doesn't warrant it's own thread.Conversely, is there anything in the MK3 that isn’t possible in the Plus?.are the pads better, are the knobs better, does it come with a more expansive sound library, will I experience some latency improvement playing it? If I don’t need the portability (it will sit 30cm from an iMac a 100% of the time), is there any hardware / software difference at all worth the price difference of the Maschine Plus / Standalone? I.e.Price is not a concern, but no reason to spend 2X money if the added functionality doesn't have value. With the Maschine Plus coming out, my interested in the Maschine workflow has been re-igninted and I'm now considering whether to get the Plus standalone or the MK3.
